American Dream.
- In January 20, 2009 the FIRST African American President was elected.
- The election changed many things, one of Obama’s speech had a huge impact on what we believe to be the American Dream.
- Obama talks about “the divisions in our country” as in the “race and religion; wealth and opportunity” separation still occurring, and how politicians try to take advantage of the divisions, “putting Americans against one another, or targeting different messages to different audiences” Obama states.
- The main focus President Obama has on the American Dream is “we want it for the kid that didn't go to college because she could not afford it; for the worker whose wondering if his wage will pay his winter’s heating bill; for the 47 million Americans living without health care; for the millions more… retire with the dignity they have earned.”
- The American Dream now in days is mainly about focusing on the future you will have and how you will portray it. And if there is trouble along the way, to have hope and try as much possible to achieve them.
- Obama quotes, “we want them (American Dreams) for each other” basically explaining the little compassion and understanding there is in the country, hoping for for to help better the demonstration of the American Dream.
